Smoke Billows From Chemical Plant Fire in Smokey Joe’s District as He Gears Up for Another Round of Hearings to Eliminate the Clean Air Act and the EPA

Smokey Joe Barton (R-TX) is preparing another round of congressional hearings to showcase his belief that the Clean Air Act (and, more generally, the EPA) is just not necessary.  Meanwhile, in his own district, there is a “massive fire burning at a chemical plant near U.S. 287 and Interstate 35E and forced the evacuation of schools and neighborhoods is about 95 percent contained, fire officials said this afternoon.”

The fire is almost under control. Rep. Barton is not.

Today’s House Energy and Environment Subcommittee Hearing is titled “Quality Science for Quality Air.”  For a list of witnesses, or to watch it live, go to http://science.house.gov/hearing/energy-and-environment-subcommittee-%E2%80%93-hearing-quality-science-quality-air
